Approach
How We Design
At Meraki Design, our approach is guided by one simple belief:
That the most successful interiors are those that feel natural, grounded and deeply personal.
Every project begins with listening. We take time to understand not only how our clients live, but how they want their home to feel. From there, we shape spaces that are calm, intuitive and quietly luxurious. Homes that feel considered rather than imposed.
Our work is rooted in material honesty, thoughtful proportions and a strong connection to place. Whether we are designing a contemporary new build, a family home or a heritage property, our aim is always to create interiors that feel timeless and lived in.
A Philosophy Rooted in Warmth and Context
Our design philosophy is informed by our own layered upbringing. Born in South Africa to Greek families, we grew up between cultures, landscapes and ways of living. That experience has shaped the way we approach space with sensitivity, curiosity and a strong sense of belonging.
We are drawn to natural materials that age beautifully, to palettes that feel soft and grounding, and to details that reveal themselves slowly. Our interiors are not trend led. Instead, they are guided by atmosphere, comfort and longevity.
Clients often tell us that our spaces feel calm the moment they step inside. For us, this sense of ease is the true measure of good design.
1. Understanding Your Vision
We begin by listening. We explore how you live, what you value, and what you want your home to reflect. This initial stage forms the foundation of the entire design narrative.
5. FF&E Design and Procurement
We curate furniture, lighting, textiles and accessories from trusted global suppliers and local artisans. Every detail is considered to ensure cohesion and clarity.
OUR PROCESS
Our process is considered, collaborative and transparent, guiding each project from first ideas through to completion.
2. Concept and Spatial Planning
We develop a clear concept and refine the spatial layout, focusing on flow, proportion and the relationship between rooms. This stage establishes the architectural backbone of the project.
6. Coordination and Delivery
We work closely with architects, contractors and specialist craftspeople to ensure the design intent is delivered precisely. Our team manages drawings, specifications, site visits and communication from start to finish.
3. Materiality and Atmosphere
Materials are selected with care, favouring natural finishes. Colour palettes are shaped by light, context and mood, allowing the atmosphere of the home to emerge naturally.
7. Styling and Homecoming
The final layer brings the project to life. Art, books, textiles, lighting and personal objects are thoughtfully placed to create a home that feels lived in, loved and ready to be enjoyed.
4. Bespoke Joinery and Detailing
We design bespoke joinery and elements that respond to how the space is used. Craftsmanship and detailing are central to our work, ensuring each piece feels both functional and enduring
8. Aftercare and Ongoing Support
We remain available to support our clients as they settle into their home, assisting with final adjustments, additional sourcing or future phases. It is a considered, long-term approach that reflects how personally we take each project and the lasting relationships we build.
